This week’s bird is the: Western Screech Owl
1) This is an adaptable bird. Spanning from Alaska to Mexico, this bird occupies just about every habitat and eats almost anything (except humans).
2) This is another cute one - this bird is only 9 inches tall! Females are about 4% bigger, so less cute?
3) This bird eats crayfish. Need I say more?
4) This bird has a cousin - the Eastern Screech Owl, so if you are an east-coaster you can have that bird be the BOTW. Your choice.
5) In recent years this bird has expanded its range to the point where it now overlaps the range of the Eastern Screech Owl. If you live in West Texas, good for you, you can see both!
